Be a Daredevil for Dementia
Jersey Alzheimer’s Association’s ‘Be a Daredevil for Dementia’ is a campaign calling for local thrill seekers to take part in an extreme challenge whilst raising money for JAA.
Launched in 2016, over 20 participants took part in skydives, abseils, marathons, and one brave daredevil took part in a wing walk! Over £10,000 was raised to help us support individuals with dementia and their carers.
Here are the ways you can be a Daredevil for Dementia:
Freefall over Jersey from 10,000 feet whilst taking part in a tandem skydive. Experience Jersey from a completely different perspective whilst travelling at speeds of 120mph! For more information about what to expect download the Jersey Tandem Skydive Information Sheet or visit www.skydivejersey.net
Next JAA Skydive date: Sunday 15 July 2018
A rare opportunity to abseil down the ancient Mont Orgueil Castle in Gorey. Could you brave the Jersey elements and conquer the 65ft drop? Experience 360 degree views of beautiful Gorey as you take part in a unique adrenaline fuelled challenge. This event takes part over a weekend, with training on day 1 and the abseil taking place on day 2.
When: Saturday 5 & Sunday 6 August 2018 (2 day event)
Where: Mount Orgueil Castle, Gorey
Take on a ‘once in a lifetime’ challenge whilst helping to make a difference to people affected by dementia.
Local JAA supporter, Ruthie Hawkesford, who took part in the tandem skydive said:
"From training to Skydive I absolutely loved the whole experience. Seeing Jersey at 10,000 feet is stunning and free-falling is the biggest rush!
The team at Skydive Jersey gave me total confidence and made me feel at ease.
If you’ve ever thought about it, do it! I’ve overcome my fear of heights and am now looking for the next challenge! "
